The Baan Prakob Custom Station, Na Ta-Wee of Songkla Province was established from the 8th Meeting of Malaysia-Thailand Joint Steering Committee (JSC) on the 5th-6th August 2542 B.E. The Malaysia proposed opening a new border crossingat the territory landmark of Thailand-Malaysia No.631, PrakobSubdistrict, Na Ta-Wee District which Malaysia would build the Durien Bu-Rong Custom Station within the Kota Putra Project that was going to be the Halal food industrial area. And for the free-custom area, Thailand would build the Baan Prakob Custom Station in order to ensure importation and exportation. Opening the new way product transportation increases the channel of importation and exportation to release congestion from the Sa-Dao Custom Station which is full of a number of products and would not able to support the huge amount of products in the future.

 

 

Opening the permanent Baan Prakob border crossing, the government of Thailand and that of Malaysia agreed on officially open the permanent Baan Prakob border crossing on January, 20th 2553 B.E. Moreover, the minister of the Ministry of Interior signed in the proclamation of the Ministry of Inferior on 18th January 2553 B.E. on the issue of the open of the permanent Baan Prakob Custom Station, Na Ta-Wee District identified office hours from 7.00 a.m. – 5 p.m. according to Thailand time zone (8.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m. according to Malaysia) enforcing from 20th January 2553 B.E.

The permanent Baan Prakob border crossing will be an important channel to connect trading economy and tourism between Thailand and Malaysia, especially, to create good long-lasting relationship between Thailand and Malaysia.

This way connects to Penang port and Alosta, Kedah of Malaysia. When Thailand have completely built the four-lane road, the road would be the way for imported-exported products as well as make the people in the 3border provinces and the 3 districts of Songkla Province be able to increasingly use the immigrant-emigrant to Malaysia and reduce cost and time. Now the Department of Highways is operating the construction of the subcorridor-border. It is expected to be completed in 2555 and will be wholly used before joining ASEAN Community in 2558 B.E.
